Help! My M.2 SSD Isn’t Recognized After Using a PCIe Adapter

I'm having trouble with my setup. I recently added a PCIe adapter because my motherboard ran out of M.2 slots for storage, but now my SSD isn't showing up in the BIOS. Here's the hardware I'm working with: I have an MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard, a Crucial P310 1TB SSD (PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 2280), and a GLOTRENDS NVMe to PCIe 4.0 x4 Adapter. I've checked that everything is compatible, but I'm at a loss for why the SSD isn't being recognized. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure your adapter is in a true x4 PCIe slot. Also, updating the BIOS could help—it might be a lane sharing issue that's causing your SSD not to show up.

Have you installed the driver for the adapter? Sometimes that’s needed for it to work properly with the SSD.

Just a heads up, if you're using both M.2 slots, only one PCIe slot might be available for the adapter. This can lead to bandwidth issues since some lanes might get disabled when both M.2 are in use.
