Help! My Memory Overclocking Failed After RAM Upgrade

I've been using two Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 8GB DDR4 sticks running at 3600 MHz without any problems for the last five years. I just added two more sticks of the same type to upgrade my system to 32 GB. However, since installing them, my computer keeps crashing on boot and I get a 'Memory overclocking failed' error. After some troubleshooting, I found out that my system only works reliably at 3200 MHz—anything higher leads to instability. I've also noticed that although these RAM sticks were marketed as identical, one pair is Samsung B-die and the other is Nanya A-die. Now I'm wondering if there's a way to get everything stable at 3600 MHz, if I should manually set custom XMP timings in the BIOS, or if it's better to return the new RAM and look for a matching B-die kit. Appreciate any advice!

There are a couple of things at play here. First off, having four sticks of RAM can strain the memory controller, which might limit the speed. Plus, since one set is B-die and the other A-die, this can definitely impact stability too. My recommendation? Just stick with 3200 MHz. You won’t really notice a difference in performance, and 32 GB at 3200 MHz is way better than having only 16 GB at 3600 MHz.

Thanks for the insight! I'm using a Ryzen 7 3800X and an MSI X470 Gaming Pro Max, if that helps.
