Help! My Monitor Isn’t Showing 144Hz After Switching to DisplayPort

I'm having a strange issue with my monitor's refresh rate. After connecting my new DisplayPort 2.1 cable, I can no longer achieve 144 Hz. My monitor definitely supports DP 1.4 and should allow 144 Hz at 1440p, but it worked fine with HDMI before. The real kicker is that my second monitor doesn't support DisplayPort and my GPU only has one HDMI output. I'm looking for any ideas or solutions to get back to 144 Hz! Thanks a ton!

Which monitor and GPU are you using? Sometimes using a converter dongle or a different cable can help, depending on where the bottleneck is.

Have you checked both the Windows settings and your monitor's on-screen display to ensure 144 Hz is selected? Also, what GPU do you have? Sometimes, you might have to adjust settings in the driver software too.

Do you really need 144 Hz on your second monitor? It might not be necessary depending on what you're doing on it.

I probably should've been clearer. My main monitor needs to run at 144 Hz, which I can only get via HDMI. My second monitor can only connect through HDMI too, and my PC only has one slot for that, so it's either one monitor at 144 Hz or two at 60 Hz.

It might be worth trying another DisplayPort cable to rule that out as the issue at least.
