Help! My Mouse Stopped Working After Changing Data Queue Size

Hey everyone, yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to change my mouse data queue size to 0. I know, I know—I should have done more research! It was working fine at first, but now my cursor is acting all weird, teleporting around, and it won't even click. I've looked online for solutions and they all say to just change it back, but I can't even get into the registry editor since I can't click anything. Does anyone have a fix for this?

You can also try using the shortcut "Windows Key + R" to open the Run command, then type "regedit" to access the registry. Use the Tab or arrow keys to find what you need to reset. Just be careful not to mess anything up!

Thanks for the tip! I eventually managed to fix it using my old mouse, and then switched back to the new one.

Try using the Tab key to navigate through fields or buttons, then hit Enter to click on them. You might be able to get back to the registry and change it back.

I ended up plugging in my old mouse, which worked fine. I changed the queue back to default, but now it’s beeping at me, so I think I might have a hardware issue to figure out!

You should really learn to navigate with your keyboard too. It can save you in situations like these!

Honestly, after years at the computer, I didn't even know you could adjust the mouse data queue. What's it for anyway?

The mouse data queue size is where mouse input data is stored before it gets processed by your PC.

Same here! I had no clue it could even be queued.

Just curious, but why did you decide to change that setting? What made you think messing with random registry settings was a good idea?

I first heard about it from a YouTube video claiming it could reduce input delay. I know a little about PCs, but I mostly trusted the video instead of researching more. But I figured it out in the end!

Wait, you found that setting? I had no idea it even existed!
