I recently bought a brand new M5 Air, and I'm stuck at the "Activate Mac" screen where I need to choose a WiFi network. Unfortunately, no networks are listed and the WiFi icon is missing. I've tried several fixes like restarting the computer, booting into safe mode, and even connecting my phone via USB-C, but nothing seems to work. I don't have an Ethernet cable to try that option, and I came across a suggestion to use the Apple Configurator app on my old M1 Air to fix this, but I'm unsure if that's the right way to go. Should I attempt that or just take it into Apple directly?

I'm dealing with the same problem, and it’s super frustrating! If you find a solution, please share it!
The Apple Configurator idea is a valid option. Stuck activation screens can often be resolved by reloading the firmware through Apple Configurator 2 on another Mac. If you have access to an Apple Store, they can do a quick DFU restore for you in about 10 minutes, which would probably be the easiest solution.
Honestly, I'd just send it back to Apple. You paid a lot for a new machine; you shouldn’t have to deal with this hassle. They’re equipped to handle situations like yours and can help you out quickly.
