I just finished assembling my new PC build, but when I tried to power it on, absolutely nothing happened. I've already checked the 24-pin connection and the CPU, and both seem fine. I did a paper clip test on the 24-pin, and the PSU fan was spinning, which was promising. But when I looked at the RAM, even with brand new sticks, it still wouldn't boot. I replaced the CMOS battery as well and even tried a different power supply. I ended up buying a combo of RAM, CPU, and motherboard on eBay, and I'm starting to think I might have received a dead motherboard. Does anyone have advice before I go for a refund? Honestly, this whole situation is making me reconsider building PCs altogether; I respect those who persist through these issues!

What are your specs? Are there any diagnostic LEDs on your board? If you're working with AM5 or DDR5 components, sometimes booting can take quite a while due to long memory trains during initial posts... so it might be worth waiting a little longer on those.
Sounds like you're putting together an AM4 build with a 5800X and possibly a 5070? If so, try booting without the GPU connected. Sometimes the onboard graphics can work better if the GPU has issues.
Have you tried jumping the power pins on the motherboard? Also, double-check that the power button is connected to the right place on the board. It might help get things moving!

I gave that a shot too, but every time I turn on the power supply, I only get a brief .5 seconds of RGB lighting before it all shuts off again.
