I'm trying to install Puppy Linux on my old 32-bit laptop, but I'm having trouble booting from the USB drive. I've downloaded the NoblePup32-24.04-251101 ISO file. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue? I'm not sure what steps I should follow or what to check. Any advice would be appreciated!

To get started, it's crucial to know exactly what steps you've taken and where you got stuck. What model is your laptop? Also, ensure it’s functioning well. When creating the boot media, detail what method or program you used? Did you check both MBR and UEFI compatibility? Have you tried different USB ports or media? Make sure the BIOS boot menu recognizes your USB as well. It could also be worth browsing the Puppy Linux forums for additional guidance.

First, have you accessed the BIOS settings to change the boot order? Set it to check for the USB drive before the hard drive. This is often a key step for booting from USB.

If Puppy Linux continues to give you trouble, you might wanna try Q4OS instead; it runs great on older hardware. Just remember that version 5 is only supported until 2028. For creating a bootable USB, I'd recommend using Balena Etcher—just make sure you're using the Windows Portal version. Alternatively, Q4OS can also be set up directly within Windows without needing a USB.

By the way, how much RAM does your laptop have, and what processor are you using? This can affect compatibility with older distros.
