I've been experiencing frequent black screens while playing demanding games on my PC. This issue usually causes my system to either restart or it won't power back on until I switch the power off and on again. I built this PC in February of this year, and since then, I haven't been able to activate XMP settings without my system crashing until I turn it off completely. My CPU usage hits up to 100% during most games I play, even though I've seen similar setups performing better.
Here's what I've tried so far: I've updated and reinstalled my drivers, checked the temperatures (which are all fine), undervolted my CPU and GPU, scanned for corrupt files, and eliminated potential background distractions for gaming, but nothing seems to work. I've also reset and updated the BIOS, but the problems persist.
My specs are:
- AMD Radeon 7900XT
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
- Corsair Vengeance 32GB RAM
- Windows 11
No dump files are generated, and the event viewer shows "event 41 Kernel power". I've done quite a bit of research, but I'm still stuck here.

It sounds like you've checked a lot of things already. Given that you've reset almost everything, I’d start looking into potential power supply issues. You might want to run a CPU stress test and a GPU test to see if they hold up individually. Since you mentioned everything tests fine, try running both at the same time using an app like FurMark. Sometimes, power supplies can struggle under load, especially when trying to activate XMP settings. If you can, monitor the power supply voltages while you do this for any dips or irregularities.
That makes sense! I actually did tests on the CPU and GPU separately without problems, but I haven't tried running them together yet. Just curious, how could the power supply impact XMP settings?
