I've been struggling with my computer boot looping for the last three days. I recently upgraded my system with an Intel i9 14900K and a new DDR5 motherboard. Initially, I could get to the lock screen, but then it goes black, even though all the fans and lights are still on. After a few attempts, I get a message saying, 'your computer experienced a problem, we will reboot for you.' I've even tried formatting all the drives and starting a fresh Windows install, but it black screens again when the installation reaches 1-10%. Here's my build:
- Asus Z790 WiFi motherboard
- Intel i9 14900K CPU
- Corsair RM850e 80 Plus Gold PSU
- Radeon 6800XT GPU (not installed during this process)
- 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial Pro 5600 MT/s RAM

It sounds like you might want to check a few things here. First, make sure your CPU isn't overheating. What's your cooler setup like? Also, have you updated your BIOS since the upgrade? The 14900K can have some issues with instability, especially if it's a used unit. Beyond that, check your RAM and the power supply too—850W should be fine for your setup, but just in case, verify it's functioning well!
Did you buy the 14900K second-hand? They’ve had a reputation for overheating issues in some cases, particularly the 13th and 14th generation processors. Even with microcode updates, I see posts where people say their CPUs just stopped working. I hope that's not what's happening with yours!

I got the processor new, and when I checked the BIOS, the temps were between 67 and 73 degrees Celsius. It doesn't seem too hot, right?
