I've been facing a frustrating issue where my computer connects to various networks but always shows "secured, no internet." Everything appears to work fine except for the DNS client, which seems to time out when I attempt to flush it or set a specific address using the command prompt. My phone and another computer can connect to the same networks without issues. Interestingly, my computer does connect to my phone's hotspot but still indicates "secured, no internet."
Here's a list of what I've tried to resolve it:
- Removed and reinstalled the device through Device Manager and updated the driver, but no luck.
- Attempted to flush the DNS, but the command prompt froze, and I couldn't tell if anything happened.
- Tried IP renew in the command prompt, but it failed, saying the specified file wasn't found.
- Completely reinstalled Windows 11 to address any potential registry issues, but that didn't help.
- Conducted multiple full network resets and reset the TCP/IP stack and Winsock several times.
- Cleaned and reset the M.2 chip, also tidied up dust in my case for better airflow.
- Uninstalled all antivirus and VPN software, disabled the Windows firewall, but hit a snag with Norton not fully uninstalling and an issue with another VPN.
- Restarted my router numerous times.
I've been tirelessly troubleshooting and really appreciate any insights or help!

You could try resetting your router again, making sure to check the settings for DHCP. Sometimes, a simple reboot helps clear any issues. Also, consider if you're the only device experiencing this problem on your network. It might help to cross-post in a Home Networking forum for more tailored advice.
Yup, definitely sounds like a networking issue rather than a device issue.
It sounds like your PC isn't receiving a valid IPv4 address. When you see an address starting with 169.254.x.x, it's usually an indication that your computer can't communicate with the DHCP server to get an IP. Have you checked if other devices on the same network have internet access?
Yeah, my mom's computer and the TV connect just fine, along with my phone.
You might want to look into your router settings as well to ensure DHCP is enabled.

Great idea! I'll do that. It feels like I've tried everything!
