Hi everyone! I was just watching a movie when my PC suddenly shut off without any warning. I hadn't touched it for about half an hour, so it took me by surprise. After checking for any power outages in my home, I attempted to turn it back on, but nothing happened. Interestingly, the lights on my motherboard and keyboard are still functioning as usual even when the PC is off. I'm wondering what might have gone wrong. I've tried toggling my power supply unit (PSU) on and off, but that didn't help. Could it be that my PSU has failed?

It’s tough to diagnose without some troubleshooting. First, you might want to check your power supply (PSU) with a multimeter to see if it's outputting the correct voltage on all the rails.
Assuming you’re using Windows, here’s a quick reset you could try:
1. Hold the power button until all the lights go off.
2. Wait about 30 seconds.
3. Press the power button for a second and let go.
4. Wait around 15 seconds. If the PC doesn’t boot, go through steps 1, 2, and 3 again three times. If you get a diagnostic screen, follow the steps there.
I’m on Windows 11. It seems like I can't even get past step 1. Holding the power button doesn't turn off the passive light on the motherboard, which stays on even when I press it. My keyboard and wireless receiver still get power, but nothing happens.

I have no clue how to use a multimeter! If it doesn't magically fix itself by tomorrow, I guess I'll just take the PC back to where I built it.
