Help! My Wi-Fi Keeps Dropping After a Virus Issue

I've been struggling with Wi-Fi issues for about 5-6 months, which is a huge problem since I need this computer for game design. I played The Sims and ended up downloading something strange that gave me a virus. I managed to delete the virus, but my Wi-Fi is still acting up—disconnecting randomly. Sometimes the Windows reinstallation doesn't work, so I have to manually redownload the Wi-Fi drivers and restart my computer. I took my computer to a repair shop, and they reloaded Windows without my account info, saying it worked, but I couldn't sign in afterward. I tried redownloading Windows myself on a different desktop, but I'm still facing these issues. I'm at a loss here, and with school coming up, I really need help!

It sounds like there could be a problem with your Wi-Fi drivers or even a hardware issue. Have you checked if your network drivers are fully updated? You might want to try uninstalling them completely and then reinstalling them again. Sometimes the installation gets corrupted, which can cause connect issues.

Yeah, reinstalling the drivers effectively could help. Just make sure you’re downloading the latest ones from the manufacturer's website! That should give you a fresh start.

It's tough to pinpoint the issue without more info, but if you've wiped your drives and done a fresh install, think about getting a new Wi-Fi router. Sometimes, the problem is as simple as a hardware failure on that end, and a router upgrade might solve your connection issues.

I wish I could get a new router, but I rent the place I'm in, so upgrading is not really an option for me right now. That’s a bummer!

Make sure you’ve thoroughly scanned for malware. Even after reinstallation, some malware can hide deep within the system. If those scans are crashing your computer, it might be worth trying a different malware remover or even booting into safe mode to run the scan.

I've tried multiple scans, but they crash every time. It's so frustrating! I’ll have to see if there's a different software I can use that won’t cause my computer to crash.
