Hey everyone! I just finished assembling my new PC (except for the GPU) and when I tried to power it on, the CPU light flashed red for half a second before the DRAM light turned solid red. The fans are running, but I'm not getting any further than this. Here are some details about my setup:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600x
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 X Gaming Wifi6
- RAM: Critical DDR5 6400mts UDIMM kit (16GB x2)
- Power Supply: Century II Gold 850 ATX3
Both my CPU and motherboard support integrated graphics, so I was hoping to at least get into BIOS. I've already tried placing the RAM in the A2/B2 slots as recommended by the motherboard manual, tested each stick separately, and even reseated the CPU after checking the pins (they all seem fine). Everything looks good on my end. Do you have any tips or insights into what could be the issue? Let me know if you need more information. This is my first PC build!

Since your RAM is brand new and clicks into place, it’s less likely to be a seating issue. You might want to double-check the motherboard manual for any compatibility notes. If the problem persists, consider trying a different RAM if you have access to it, just to see if that clears the red light.
It could be a few things, from poorly seated RAM to a faulty stick. Given what you’ve shared, it sounds like it could be a defective module. Have you tried testing each RAM stick individually or using different slots? Sometimes a specific slot might not be functioning properly.
