Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my CPU, RAM, and motherboard to match my new 9070XT Red Devil, which I just snagged for $530 open box. I'm torn between getting the 265K or the 9700X combo. I can't really stretch my budget for an X3D chip. My main gaming focuses are iRacing, GTA 5, Cyberpunk, Star Wars Jedi games, plus I'm into SolidWorks, Maya, and VSCode. I also game on a 34-inch 1440p monitor. Any recommendations?

It's really about your needs. For gaming and coding, the 9700X works great. It has 8 cores and 16 threads, which is usually enough for most coding tasks and smooth gaming, especially at 1440p. But if you're doing heavy productivity work that needs more threads, the 265K is definitely the better pick.
If you can stretch your budget a little, consider going for the 7800X3D bundle from Microcenter. There's not much difference in price between that and the 9700X.
You chose AMD for the GPU while using SolidWorks? Interesting choice. Just to note, the 9700X combo should provide better longevity for gaming.
I've got the 9700X in my server, and the 265K in my gaming setup. Both are solid choices! The 265K is a bit better for productivity, but the 9700X will likely have more longevity if you're into upgrades. If both options seem equal, I’d go with whichever is cheaper, especially if one has a better motherboard.
Good summary! Plus, keep in mind that Intel's NPU can offer some benefits for AI and machine learning tasks, which might sway your decision depending on your future plans.
