Our non-profit organization has been using AWS to host our official website and a vital data portal for a significant public project. This setup includes EC2 instances, RDS databases, and S3 storage, featuring a CMS website, multi-language content, a research dashboard, and more. Due to recent staff changes, we missed important AWS billing emails and didn't pay a bill from November 2, 2024, amounting to about $39 USD. Now that we've regained access to the registered email, we tried logging into the AWS Console but encountered a message indicating access issues.
We've taken several steps so far:
- Filed a support request from our recovered email (unfortunately, it hasn't helped).
- Tried to escalate through AWS Support and other public channels.
- Expressed our commitment to pay all outstanding bills and any penalties.
We're concerned that the account might be permanently closed, but we desperately hope to recover access or at least get our data back. Rebuilding all of this infrastructure just isn't possible financially for us. If anyone from the AWS team or community could assist in escalating this to Account Recovery or Trust & Safety, we would be incredibly grateful. We can provide verification details, past invoices, and any necessary documentation. Thank you for any guidance or support!

It sounds like you've gone through a lot trying to get your account back! Normally, AWS allows accounts to go through a suspension after two unpaid bills, so it's strange that it went this long. I really hope you manage to recover your account—losing all that infrastructure would be rough for any organization, especially a non-profit!
Honestly, this situation happens more often than you'd think! They should really have better alerts for billing issues. Good luck getting back access—hopefully, they can sort it out without too much more trouble!
Right? I feel like I’ve heard so many crazy recovery stories, it’s like a rite of passage here!
Hey there, have you tried reaching out directly with your case ID? Sometimes a personal message can get things moving faster. I can help if you drop me a DM with that info!
Thanks, I just sent it over! Any help would be appreciated!
Yeah, I totally get it! It's such a hassle when accounts get locked like that, especially when you’ve got crucial stuff running on it.
