Help! Why Does My Motherboard Show Code FF With All 4 RAM Sticks Installed?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my setup. My motherboard, the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, displays code FF and won't POST when I try to use all four RAM sticks at once. However, it works perfectly fine when I use just one pair of sticks. I'm running an AMD Ryzen 9950X CPU and I have two pairs of Crucial DDR5 RAM (Model: CP64G56C46U5.M16B1). I'm really puzzled as to why this is happening. Any insights on what I might be missing? Thanks in advance!

Currently, DDR5 is known to have issues when used with more than two DIMMs. If possible, I recommend returning the mismatched sticks and going for a single two-DIMM kit instead. This should ensure a smoother experience without the POST issues you're facing.

It sounds like you've hit a common snag when mixing RAM kits. Even if they’re the same model, different kits can cause issues like this. The reason is that RAM is tested as a bundle—the manufacturer ensures stability only within each kit. Using two kits that aren’t identical can lead to boot problems, especially with DDR5 on AMD systems, which tends to have a weaker memory controller. It's usually best to stick to one kit to avoid these headaches!

You’re totally right! I was hoping to max out my RAM but it seems I need to reconsider my approach. It's just confusing when they market these high capacities but don't mention these compatibility issues.
