Help! Windows is recognizing my external monitor as a camera

I'm trying to set up a second monitor with my Lenovo laptop, which has a broken screen. I already have one external monitor connected via HDMI. For the second monitor, I'm using a USB 3 to VGA adapter since there's only one HDMI port available. However, in the device manager, it's being detected as a 'USB video device' with the type listed as 'Camera.' I've already tried changing the ports for both monitors and even switched USB ports, but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like you might have ended up with a capture card instead of the correct video output dongle. Can you share what specific adapter you’re using? Sometimes the issue can stem from the hardware itself, especially if it’s not recognized correctly by Windows.

Check if the adapter you’re using is compatible with your setup. Some adapters might not have the functionality needed to output video properly. You might also want to ensure that your driver software is up-to-date, as that can sometimes solve these issues.
