I'm trying to connect my Windows 11 desktop to a local network that doesn't have a router; it only uses a switch. This setup is meant for accessing a Samba file server. I've manually set up the device with an IPv4 address, subnet mask, and no gateway or DNS. Initially, everything works fine, and I can access the server, but after a while, the connection drops. The LAN icon keeps flashing until it disappears from the system tray, and once it disappears, I lose local network access completely. Any advice on how to fix this issue? I can provide more details if needed!

It sounds like there might be an issue with the cabling or the switch, or your ethernet adapter might be malfunctioning. I recommend swapping out the cable first to see if that resolves the issue. The "connected, no internet" message should remain stable and shouldn't be flashing. It’s also worth checking if any power-saving features could be affecting your connection. If the issue persists, you could disable NCSI in the registry to eliminate that ‘no internet’ message, but keep in mind that shouldn't affect your LAN usage.

I checked the cable already, and it’s not that. The server's IP is pingable for a little while, but then it stops pinging as soon as the LAN icon disappears from the tray.
