Hey everyone, I'm trying to install Zorin OS 17.3 on my HP 14 laptop, which has 8 GB of RAM and a Ryzen 5 5500U processor. I'm switching from Windows 11 because many apps keep freezing, and I even tried Windows 10 but my laptop keeps shutting down and going to the recovery page. I can get to the download page for Zorin and successfully download it, but when I remove the USB and press enter after the installation, my screen just goes black. The laptop is still on, but it doesn't proceed any further. Has anyone experienced this or has any idea how to fix it? I'd really appreciate your help!

Yup, it sounds like you might be stuck at the final step. When you say the screen goes black after the installation, it could be a graphics driver issue. Some systems have trouble with integrated graphics during boot. Try booting into recovery mode or using the nomodeset option when starting Zorin from the USB. This can sometimes help in bypassing display issues on newer hardware. You could also try reinstalling Zorin but making sure to keep an eye on any prompts that could set the graphics driver during installation.
It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble getting Zorin up and running. Just to clarify, have you been able to boot from the USB and reach the installation screen? Most distros, including Zorin, let you try out a live version before actually installing it. If you’ve already done that, you still need to click the install icon on the desktop and follow the prompts. After installation, if it hangs on the HP boot screen, it might be worth checking how the USB was burned or the settings in your BIOS to ensure it's set to boot from the correct drive. You could also try adjusting the boot options or checking compatibility settings.
