Help with Latency Issues on External Monitor While Gaming

I'm struggling with noticeable latency on my external monitor when playing games on my Nvidia gaming laptop, and it's really keeping me from making the switch to Linux. The mouse cursor seems to lag behind, and everything feels slightly delayed compared to the built-in laptop monitor. I've done some digging into Nvidia Prime but I'm unsure if that's the root cause of my issues. I've posted about this before on various forums and haven't received any help yet, so I'm pretty desperate! Here are my specs: AMD Ryzen 7 6800H, Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

Hey, have you checked which display manager you're using? It might help to test both Wayland and X11. Sometimes they behave differently. Let me know how that goes!

I tried both! On Wayland, I did notice additional slowdowns and frame drops, while X11 didn't have those but still had the latency issue. My laptop display is 165Hz and the external is 165.08Hz; I switched off the internal display using X11 because I read differing refresh rates can cause problems.
