Help with RAM Speed Issues on Ryzen 7 7700X

I recently added an extra 32 GB of RAM to my setup, which consists of 4 x Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000MHz RAM sticks. My motherboard is an ASUS ROG STRIX B650-A, and I'm using an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X processor along with a SAPPHIRE RX 9070 GPU. However, I've been facing booting problems even before installing the new RAM. Now, even though I expected the speed to run at 6000MHz, Windows is only recognizing it at 4800MHz. I've had to reseat everything multiple times, and my boot process is extremely slow, taking over a minute and getting stuck on the orange DRAM light. I'm also worried about hard drive space issues that seem to pop up randomly. Any advice would be appreciated—I'm hoping this new RAM would resolve my stability issues during streaming and recording!

It sounds like you're running into some common DDR5 quirks. When using four sticks of RAM, they can often default to a lower speed like 4800MHz, especially in a Ryzen setup. If you really need more RAM, consider getting a 64 GB kit (2x32GB) instead of expanding to four sticks. This should allow you to run at the full 6000MHz without a hitch, plus it looks cleaner in builds!

I totally get the aesthetic appeal of having four sticks, but the performance trade-off isn't worth it. I had similar issues and switched to a dual-stick setup, and things improved massively.

I agree with the four-stick theory; it can make certain systems unstable. Also, the boot time you mentioned points to potential conflicts with how the memory is set up. Resetting your BIOS to default and then manually configuring the RAM settings may help. Don't forget to update your BIOS to the latest version—sometimes that fixes speed issues too!

I've done that too! Updating the BIOS fixed my RAM speed problems. It's worth a shot before investing in new sticks.
