I recently built a new PC and I'm experiencing frustrating screen flickering issues when running heavy games like Marvel Rivals or Fortnite. Whenever I have other applications open, like YouTube or Discord, the top half of my screen flickers—sometimes it's a mild blink, other times it's really intense. I reset my PC and the CMOS, and I did a fresh install of Windows 11 (previously I was on Windows 10, but this problem didn't happen before the reset).
I've gone through a ton of troubleshooting: I've uninstalled and reinstalled my GPU drivers, updated the chipset, adjusted FreeSync settings, swapped from DisplayPort to HDMI, underclocked my RAM, and even changed my power plan settings. Nothing has worked so far. My gut tells me that the CMOS reset might be related to these problems.
Additionally, I noticed that my motherboard splash screen and the Windows advanced options screen display in low resolution now. This wasn't an issue before, and I've tried disabling CMS in the BIOS, switching to UEFI, and enabling secure boot, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Yeah, I've been there with the flickering screens while gaming. It can drive you up the wall! If you've tried everything mentioned, one last thing to check is the power supply connections going into your GPU. Sometimes it's just a loose wire that can cause these kinds of problems. As for the low-res screens, don't sweat it too much; it's just how they are programmed!
Did you really need to censor '67'? Haha, anyway, it sounds like a tangled mess you’ve got there! The BIOS does often appear in low resolution, which is normal. But make sure all your drivers are current, and definitely try swapping display cables. It might make a difference. Keep us updated on what works for you!
I get why you’re frustrated! As for the flickering, it could definitely be a driver issue, especially if it started after the CMOS reset. Have you considered using different display cables? Sometimes they can be the root cause. And regarding the low-resolution splash screens, that's pretty common with motherboards. It's usually nothing serious and just how the BIOS is displayed. Don’t worry too much about that unless you see other issues later on!
