Help with SSD Warranty for My HP Laptop

I have an HP Victus laptop, and it seems like the SSD has stopped working. I bought the laptop about a year and a half ago, but the warranty expired a few months back. When I contacted HP, they said they couldn't assist me because the warranty is up. I also reached out to Lexar, the SSD manufacturer, since it has its own 3-year warranty. However, to submit a return request, I need a receipt for the SSD, which I don't have since it was pre-installed in my laptop. HP doesn't have a record of it either. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do in this situation, or am I just stuck buying a new SSD or laptop?

Swapping out the SSD could be a good project if you're comfortable doing some work yourself. Even if you get someone to help, it might still be cheaper than buying a whole new laptop. Just weigh your options on cost versus time.

Good point! I think I might just try to replace it myself.

It looks like you're in a bit of a pickle! Just to clarify, the warranty on the SSD is generally linked to the retailer or the person who actually bought it, so since you didn’t buy it directly from Lexar, you wouldn’t have any warranty coverage with them. Since HP's warranty has expired, your best bet might be to go ahead and buy a new SSD. At least the new one will come with its own warranty!

Thanks for clarifying that! I guess I'll need to start shopping for a new SSD.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you're out of luck getting a warranty cover from Lexar since they don't have any record of your SSD. Your best move now is to buy a new SSD. It’s kind of a hassle, but it’s also a chance to upgrade!

Thanks, I guess it’s time to look for a good SSD deal!

Have you checked if your credit card offers an extended warranty? Some cards provide an additional year on top of manufacturer warranties. It might be worth calling the number on the back of your card to see if you’re eligible!
