Help with VRAM Issues on My 4080 Suprim X

I've been experiencing some serious issues with my 4080 Suprim X graphic card, particularly nvlddmkm Event ID errors, game crashes, and weird pixelated glitches. These problems seem to have started a few months ago, but due to traveling, I wasn't able to troubleshoot until recently. I tried rolling back the drivers to as old as the studio drivers 577.00, and even reinstalled Windows with default BIOS settings, but nothing has worked.

I tested the GPU with OCCT and memtest_vulkan and was shocked to see errors when memory usage exceeded 10GB. The card is just about three years old, and I'm feeling pretty let down. I reached out to the retailer, but they only offer a year of warranty. MSI just directed me back to the retailer for support. I'm at a standstill, wondering if there's any hope for fixing the card or if I should just go ahead and replace it with a 50 series, even though I'm not excited about the minor performance upgrade.

It sounds like your troubles could stem from a failing VRAM chip, especially since the errors appear when you hit around 10GB usage. You might want to try underclocking the VRAM or lowering the power limit to see if that helps stabilize things. Some repair shops can replace a faulty VRAM chip, but it's not going to be cheap. Honestly, unless you really want to move to a newer model, sticking with this card could still be a solid choice.

Just a heads up, underclocking and limiting power might be your best bet right now. If you’ve already tested those and the problem persists, it might be worth checking what it would cost to fix the GPU at the shop you contacted. I know it might be a pain, but getting a repair quote can help you decide whether to fix your current card or jump to a 50 series.
