How Bad Did I Mess Up My Linux System?

I ran the command `$ sudo apt remove xapps-common` because I was getting a 'failed to load xapp-gtk3-module' error. However, after removing it, I encountered another error when trying to update, which said I couldn't do that because xapps-common had a conflict. Now, I've noticed some issues with Mint Update, my favorites have been reset, and possibly something else is broken. Am I in deep trouble, and can I fix this?

You might find Timeshift to be a lifesaver! It's probably the easiest way to revert any changes if you have it set up. But if you don't have it, don't fret just yet. It's likely fixable without a full reinstall.

Yeah, I might be in trouble since I don’t have Timeshift and now Firefox is missing!

Can you give me some details? What was causing the 'failed to load xapp-gtk3-module' error exactly? When you tried updating, how did you do it? Just asking because understanding the steps can help find a solution. Worst case, back up critical files and reinstall, but hopefully, we can fix this without going that far!

The error was from a GPU screen recorder app (Flatpak version). I remember trying to install xapps-gtk3-module but got a conflict message, like it couldn't overwrite a file because of xapps-common.

From what I gathered, the issue might not be directly about xapps-common. You should check the error with the Flatpaks you mentioned. They often don’t have total access to the host files, so the issue could lie elsewhere. Maybe look into that before considering a reinstall.
