How can I access a QR code from an email without using a camera?

I'm often sent QR codes via email for surveys or RSVPs, and I'd like to open these codes on my work computer since they usually come attached in flyers rather than as separate images. Is there a way to decode the QR code directly on my computer without using a camera?

Honestly, just taking a screenshot and using an online QR decoder works great too. You could even download a dedicated QR reader app for your work computer, but there’s really no need for a camera when the internet has your back on this!

I find it odd that companies often send out only QR codes without including a direct URL. Do you guys see this frequently? It seems like a silly mistake to me.

Yes, you can definitely do this without a camera! If the QR code is in a PDF or image, try taking a screenshot of just the QR code—it’s easy on both Windows and Mac. Then, you can use tools like Google Lens or Bing Visual Search on your browser to extract the link from the image. Some PDF readers also let you click the QR code directly if they recognize it. Just remember to double-check the URL before you open it, especially for work-related emails!

Thanks for the tip! I tried using Google Lens, and it worked like a charm. Bing Visual Search didn’t do much for me, though.

Another method is to right-click the image of the QR code, copy it, then go to Google and select 'Search by Image.' You can paste the image there to get the link too!

I heard that there's a tool that lets you hover over the QR code in Firefox for a quick link. That might save some time!

If you're using an iPhone, you can simply long press the QR code in an email, and it should give you the option to open the link directly!

I just can't wrap my head around why some companies rely solely on QR codes instead of providing clear URLs. It seems counterproductive!
