How Can I Break Into the IT Industry?

I'm a 30-year-old guy who graduated with a BTech in 2017. For the past few years, I've been managing my family's business, but I'm ready to transition into a career in IT. I have minimal coding experience with just a little bit of knowledge in Python. What steps should I take to land a job in a good IT company? Are there any straightforward ways I can improve my chances of getting hired?

Just start applying! You might find yourself doing more tech support and cabling than actual programming initially. Many people shy away from crawling into awkward spaces to pull cables, so if you're up for that, it could be your ticket into the industry!

If you show initiative and start learning on your own, IT is a great field for self-starters. Dive into projects and build your portfolio!

Honestly, there isn't an easy way in, especially since it's a saturated field. You really have to put in the effort and work hard to stand out.

It's best to choose a specific niche within IT and focus on that. If you don't specialize, it can be tough to find a junior developer position since the field is quite competitive.

We're currently seeing a slowdown in IT job openings, but don't get discouraged! If there's a company you're interested in, check out their tech stack and look for courses related to it.
