How Can I Build a Budget Gaming PC for Under $500?

I'm completely new to computers and my current Alienware R17 can't handle anything anymore. I'm in desperate need of a new PC and I'd love to know if there's any way I can build or get a decent one for $500 or less. I'm really hoping to play games like The Last of Us and The Witcher with good graphics! Also, if anyone has tips on searching for good deals on Facebook Marketplace, that would be amazing!

If money is tight, I'd say just keep saving a bit longer. I know it might take some time, but it could help you get something much better in the end!

Used PCs on Facebook Marketplace can sometimes be a gold mine! You could grab an office tower with a Gen 6 i5 and a GTX 1070 for around $100, which should let you play most games at 1080p with decent settings.

Building a good gaming PC for under $500 is going to be tough, but you might find a decent deal on something used through Facebook Marketplace. Just keep an eye out for reasonable prices instead of trying to build something from scratch. Also, is your Alienware a PC or a laptop?

About six months ago, you could’ve built a decent rig for $500, but with RAM prices skyrocketing lately, I'd suggest planning for at least $1000 for a new build now.
