I recently got accepted to the University of Idaho, and as part of their acceptance package, they sent me a video player along with some swag. This little device can store and play up to 3 videos and has basic controls like volume and pause buttons. When I received it, I took it apart to check it out. I found that I could access the storage through a micro USB cable used for charging. I noticed the original videos were AVI files, so I deleted them and tried to upload a converted MP4 video from YouTube. However, after putting it on the player and disconnecting it, I just get a "NO FILE" error on the screen. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make this video player recognize the new file? The screen is about 2" by 4", it has a magnetic on/off switch, a speaker, and the battery specs read 3.7V +800mAh and 2.96Wh. The videos that came with it are 1080p.

It sounds like the video player might be looking for specific file names or formats. Have you tried keeping the original filenames? Sometimes devices are hard-coded to read certain names. You deleted them, so it might not have anything to play now.
Make sure you backed up the original files before tinkering with the player! Besides checking the codec and resolution, see if there's a config file, like a playlist text file. Sometimes they include specific file names that the device looks for.
I had a similar video player once. I replaced the original ad video with an .mp4, and it worked fine. Just keep experimenting with different formats. You might need to try a few more to find the one that sticks!
