I was applying for jobs and received a message about an interview via the Indeed app. I looked it up and saw that there is indeed an app for that, so I clicked a link that I thought was leading me to Google Play to download it. However, my phone warned me that the app could be harmful. I realized it might be a scam, so I canceled the download. I checked my downloads and APK folders but didn't find anything. I'm keeping my phone in airplane mode with the WiFi turned off. Is there a way to confirm that my phone is alright?

Your phone should be just fine! The security measures in place likely stopped anything from actually being downloaded. Just downloading an APK doesn’t automatically mean you’re infected. Even if you had run it, it would be okay unless it exploits a serious vulnerability.
But be aware, you could still be at risk just from visiting a malicious website, so always be cautious!
I had a similar experience recently and felt dumb for falling for it, especially since I work in IT! I reset my phone to factory settings that same night just to be safe.
Yes, the ego hit is bad lol. Thank you for sharing! I think it’ll be okay, but if I notice anything strange, I’ll consider resetting. I have a lot of photos I’d like to keep, though.

Ok, that's great to know! Thank you!
