How Can I Convince My Mom to Get Me a PC Instead of a PS5?

I'm trying to persuade my mom to get me a PC for my birthday instead of the PS5 she suggested. I currently have a laptop that crashes all the time, and I'm looking for something affordable on Amazon. My concern is that even if I get the PC, I'll still need her help with game purchases like Steam gift cards for games like Garry's Mod or Minecraft. Any advice on how to make a good case for a PC?

Honestly, if you're not planning on spending a lot, the PS5 might be a better option. Finding a decent PC that performs like a PS5 for the same price is difficult, unless you're open to used parts and doing a bit of assembly yourself. Otherwise, you'll probably end up disappointed with performance.

You should definitely point out that a PC can have more versatility than a console when it comes to games. Just make sure the PC you're aiming for can actually run games well—some cheap options might not be worth it. Plus, remind her that even for a PS5, you'll need gift cards for games too!

Yeah, and if you're looking for games, PC often has sales that can save you a lot more in the long run.

Budget is important! If you're looking under £800 for a pre-built, it might be tough to get something that performs well. A used build might be a better option; I’ve seen good setups go for around £400-500. Just be prepared that you’ll need to pay extra for accessories and games.

Any specific recommendations for that price range?
