I'm working on a school project for this year where I need to try something new and gain some skills. I'm thinking about creating a game similar to Stardew Valley, albeit on a smaller scale, featuring a fisher in a small village with pixel art style. The catch is, I have almost no coding skills! Is it feasible to complete this project within a year? Also, I'm considering using Scratch since it's beginner-friendly, but I'm unsure if it can support the game I envision. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

If you want a bit more freedom and solid documentation, you might want to check out Unity or Godot. I'm leaning towards Godot – it’s less popular now but has great potential for the future. Both platforms are relatively easy to learn!
A year gives you plenty of time! Don’t stress too much about Scratch not being able to meet all your needs. The key is to focus on learning at first. I suggest spending the first couple weeks creating a simple prototype. If it feels right, you can enhance it later. If not, you can pivot and try something new!
oooo okay this is really good advice :))
Unity paired with YouTube tutorials is a solid choice!
It does sound ambitious for a first-time game developer, but you have a lot of time! Consider making a series of smaller games first, spending just a week on each. It'll build your confidence before you tackle your Stardew Valley project. Scratch is a good option too!
hahaha yes, I am realizing how ambitious this is. Your advice is very helpful, thank you!
ahh okay thanks sm for the recommendations!
