How can I deal with slow internet while sharing with my landlord?

Hey everyone! I recently moved into a "mother daughter" house and I'm sharing the internet with my landlord. They included the internet in the rent, which is great, but I'm really struggling with the speed. I'm worried about bringing it up with them since I don't want to offend anyone. Currently, I'm connected to their router and have control over it in my part of the house, but I keep getting around 20 Mbps on speed tests. It's pretty frustrating, especially when I try to play games. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the speed without having to bother my landlord? I've tried setting up the router as an access point, but I'm not totally sure what I'm doing. Any tips would be appreciated!

First off, is your system connected via an Ethernet cable to the main router? If you’re using Wi-Fi, that could definitely slow things down. Also, consider what kind of internet connection your landlord has—20 Mbps can feel really slow, especially if you both share it. If you’re both streaming or downloading at the same time, it could be tough to get that speed. You might need to talk to your landlord about upgrading the plan or ask for some quality of service (QoS) settings that prioritize your internet usage. That way, gaming and important activities don’t get affected as much!

Yeah, definitely check with your landlord about the ISP details! Sometimes, it's just a matter of getting a better plan.
