How can I document a faulty hard drive for a return?

I recently bought a bunch of Western Digital 6TB SATA drives straight from an online store. Before adding them to my Synology NAS, I tested them using a Startech wiper. One of the drives failed the wipe pretty quickly, even when I switched ports. I then tried connecting it to an external hard drive dock, but Windows 11's Disk Management also failed to recognize it, and Crystal Disk Info couldn't see it either. To return it, the vendor wants some sort of report confirming the failure. What software or tools can I use to generate a report that shows the drive powers on but isn't recognized in Windows and on my wiper?

You might find CrystalDiskInfo useful, but if it can't detect the drive, that won't help much. Have you thought about using a different tool like HD Tune or something similar? They have options to document the drive health, which can provide a good report for the vendor.

How about documenting the issue with a video? You could show the drive hooked up to your devices and clearly not working. That might be a strong visual proof to send along with your return.
