How Can I Find the Owner of a Lost iPhone?

I found an iPhone and want to return it to its owner, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I tried searching online for solutions and read that restoring the phone might show the owner's email, but all I got was the first letter. I've heard there might be other ways to contact the owner directly. What should I do now?

If you press the volume button five times in a row, you can access the emergency dialer. This might help if there's a medical ID set up with emergency contacts. I once returned a lost phone this way!

One option is to keep the phone powered up and connected to WiFi. If the owner has 'Find My' enabled, it could hopefully send out a location report or a lost & found message. Just hang in there and see if you get any notifications!

That's good advice! In the meantime, it might help to check local social media groups or forums to see if anyone has reported it missing.

If you have an Apple Store nearby, that’s a great first step! I found a phone in a mall parking lot once and brought it to the Apple Store. They were able to look up the owner and send them an email. You might also try calling Apple with the serial number.

You could wait to see if someone calls it. Sometimes owners are actively trying to retrieve their lost phones, and they might reach out themselves.
