How Can I Fix Airdrop Confusion with Multiple Devices?

I work at a small company where we use all Apple products, and we've run into a frustrating issue with AirDrop. We have four machines connected with the same Apple ID, which helps us manage licenses and app downloads easily. Recently, I enabled iCloud for sharing resources, but now the AirDrop menu is confusing. Instead of seeing the actual names of each machine, it shows just our Apple ID initials, and all devices get notifications for file transfers, making it chaotic.

I'm particularly annoyed because:
1. The visibility of machines isn't consistent – sometimes one device shows up, but most times, it's just the Apple ID initials.
2. I can't choose specific devices for AirDrop anymore, and I can't find any settings to change this behavior.

Does this issue relate to using iCloud? Is there a way to troubleshoot it or revert to seeing individual devices?

I completely agree – separate Apple IDs are crucial here. It's like sharing a Netflix password; it might be cheaper in the short term, but it's not legal for business and can lead to issues down the road. Using the Volume Purchase Program and Mobile Device Management can help streamline your app management and ensure compliance.

Using separate Apple IDs for each workstation might solve your issue. Sharing an Apple ID among devices can complicate licenses for your software and make it hard to manage file transfers, especially in a business environment. Consider managing your licenses with Apple Business Manager for better organization and compliance.

Definitely go for separate Apple IDs! When multiple users are on the same ID, it can lead to a mess, especially with Airdrop. It might even cause software to act weird or misbehave. Plus, you’ll avoid potential legal trouble with software licenses.
