How can I format my old SSD for use as an external drive?

I recently dug out my old Kingston SSD, which I originally used to install Linux on my laptop during the pandemic. After trying to reinstall Linux Mint, I got a busybox error during boot, which made me realize I want to give up on Linux altogether. Now, I'm hoping to repurpose the SSD as an external backup drive, but I can't seem to format it. It's recognized in disk management, but I can't format it there or see it in File Explorer. I've tried using diskpart, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions on how I can format this SSD to use it effectively? Just for reference, I'm using an enclosure for the SSD right now.

Have you considered deleting the existing partition and then re-partitioning the SSD? Sometimes that can help clear up issues with formatting.

I tried deleting the volume in disk management, but it didn't work. It's the only option I can select.
