Hey everyone! I've just switched over to Linux and installed Pop!_OS mainly for gaming. I'm really interested in adding a nostalgic Windows 95 or 98 look to my desktop. Is it possible to install a Windows 95-style UI on Pop!_OS, or would I have to start fresh with a different distro? I love gaming, but I'd really enjoy having that retro interface while using my system. Any advice would be appreciated!

If you want to stick with Pop!_OS, there are ways to integrate Windows 95 themes without changing distros! You can use tools like IceWM for window management. It might take a bit more work, but it’s doable! Just make sure to read up on custom themes for GNOME, in case you need to tweak things to get the effect you want.
It's definitely possible to customize your Pop!_OS to look like Windows 95! Have you checked out themes like Chicago95? There are guides online that can walk you through the setup. Just keep in mind that you might need to do some adjustments since Pop!_OS uses the COSMIC GNOME desktop, which is different from XFCE. It can be a little tricky, but it’s worth the nostalgia! Maybe look for themes and configurations specifically tailored for GNOME if Chicago95 doesn’t give you the results you want.
If you’re looking to switch to a more customizable distro for that retro feel, you could try Kubuntu or CachyOS, which both support the Plasma desktop. They might give you the flexibility you want for customization while still being great for gaming!
