I'm looking for a way to run Ethernet to my room on the second floor for better speeds and a more stable gaming experience. The issue is I can't run a cable from the living room downstairs through the house because we have dogs, and my family thinks visible wires would look bad. I'm not very experienced with networking, so any advice that doesn't involve harsh criticism would be appreciated!

One method I've used is to drill through the wall and run the cable within the wall. You can then install wall plates for a cleaner look, and if you worry about visibility, you could even paint the cables to match the wall. Just keep in mind, it might be easier if you hire a cable tech for this!
Check how far your room is from the router. If you're directly above it, maybe ask a family member to help you run a cable. Otherwise, getting a pro to assist might be your best bet.
If you have cable TV wiring available, you could try using a MOCA adapter, which lets you run an Ethernet connection over your existing coaxial cables.

That's not an option if you have brick or concrete walls though, right?
