How Can I Get My iPod Classic to Work on Linux?

I'm tired of Windows and planning to switch to ZorinOS on my ThinkPad. I've found alternatives for nearly all my Windows software, but I'm stuck on iTunes. I just want to use my 2007 iPod Classic to transfer music, similar to how I used to do it on Windows. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm looking to fully switch to Linux and would prefer not to dual boot with Windows 11 just for iTunes. Thanks!

You might be able to mount your iPod as a drive and just transfer MP3 files directly that way. It's worth trying out, especially since you just installed ZorinOS. Let me know how it goes!

I'll see if that works! I had issues with that on Windows before, so fingers crossed.

You can check out tools like YamiPod or GTKpod for managing your iPod on Linux. YamiPod recently had a new release, so it could be a good option for you. Make sure to double-check the compatibility, though, since it's been a while since I used it. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give YamiPod a shot.

RhythmBox is also a good option for syncing your iPod without needing iTunes. It might take a little setup, but it can work well. Alternatively, if you're open to it, installing Rockbox lets you use your iPod like a regular drive which could save you some hassle, but I understand wanting to stay with the original OS.

I tried RhythmBox but couldn't get it working. Rockbox sounds tempting, but my iPod's battery is original from 2007, so I’m hesitant to drain it more.
