I have this Dell monitor that displays video without any issues, but I can't get it to play sound. I've tried adjusting all the settings but nothing seems to work. Is buying external speakers the only option I have?

Definitely check the specifications for your specific model. If it turns out your monitor doesn’t have built-in speakers, then you'll need external ones. Look for a dedicated audio out port on the monitor, it could be a 1/8" jack or an HDMI port that supports audio. But yeah, many monitors out there just don’t come with speakers at all!
Most Dell monitors don’t have built-in speakers. To get sound, you'll likely need to connect external speakers. You can check the model number to confirm if it has internal speakers or not. If it doesn’t, then yeah, grabbing some external speakers would be the way to go.
I have the P2422H model, and I found out it doesn't have any speakers.
It's true that most monitors, including many Dells, are meant to be just displays. They aren't really designed to replace TVs, so if you want sound, external speakers are essential. If you're looking for a self-contained solution, maybe consider returning the monitor for a TV that has HDMI inputs.
Great point! I’ll look into that.
Thanks for the tip! I'll take a closer look at the ports.
