How Can I Handle Stress and Difficult People in My New IT Job?

Hey everyone! I'm a young IT specialist working for a huge company—I'm pretty much the only one in my state. The tech work itself is pretty chill, but I'm struggling with the workplace environment. It's been almost four weeks, and while I know I'm lucky to have this job, the stress is really piling up. My office feels chaotic, and my managers are all remote, which adds to the confusion. We're expected to use Teams, Outlook, and other apps on our personal phones, which is overwhelming. I've found myself getting sick from not taking breaks or eating properly because I can't stop checking messages. I've got some ideas to cope, like trying to find a quieter working space and sticking to a strict schedule, but I'm feeling lost. How long should I stay in this situation? What non-destructive coping mechanisms can I use? And how can I keep my love for IT when it feels so stressful?

Honestly, if it's that stressful, you might want to consider looking for a new job. It doesn't sound like the kind of environment where you'll grow or be happy. Plus, being the only IT person in your state means you're under a crazy amount of pressure. You should prioritize your health above all else!

I get where you're coming from! I don't want to leave just yet since I don't have a solid backup plan, but if I still feel like this next week, I might start applying.
