I've been using Kubuntu and noticed that the animations when moving my mouse and navigating through menus aren't as smooth as they are on Windows 10, even though I'm on a 60 Hz monitor. While the transition to a new monitor with over 100 Hz did improve some things, there are still moments where it feels rough, especially when dragging boxes or during the log out process. Is there a way to enhance the smoothness or frame rate of Kubuntu without simply increasing the refresh rate?

If you have multiple monitors connected, make sure they’re not running at different refresh rates. My Ubuntu setup was using the lowest refresh rate from all of them, which dropped the frame rate to 30 Hz, and it was pretty rough! Just a thought!
You might want to try Tuxedo OS, which is a KDE distro based on Ubuntu but more optimized. It can give you a smoother experience and doesn't rely on Snap. You can check it out and grab the ISO from their website.
Does it have a smoother login transition, though? Kubuntu's can be a bit jarring going to a black screen.
So, Tuxedo feels smoother, huh? That's interesting!
Are you running X11 or Wayland? If you're on X11, that might be causing some of your issues. Check the KDE display settings for resolution and refresh rates, too—they can make a difference!
I'm not too familiar with those options. How can I check which one I'm using? I know about the resolution and refresh settings, but I still notice some roughness, especially around the logout options.
Nope, I just have one monitor.
