I'm having trouble with my Xfinity internet at home. The modem is upstairs, and the signal on the bottom level is pretty weak. I bought a Wi-Fi extender (Pod), but it hasn't made much of a difference. What are some effective ways to boost the signal in the downstairs area?

Make sure your Wi-Fi extender is placed halfway between your router and the area where you need better signal. A common mistake is putting it too close to the router, which might not help much. Try finding a spot that’s more central to your home.
If you need help without the hassle of calling, there's a subreddit for Comcast Xfinity where you can find official support and tips. You might get quicker answers there!
Xfinity's gateways are typically designed to perform well on the same floor. Make sure your devices are connecting to the extender and not sticking to the main router. If issues persist, consider getting your own modem and router—it can often deliver better performance and save you rental fees. Placing the extender where it can get a solid signal from the router is key, and remember that extenders can reduce your speed.
That makes sense! I’ll check the device connections and consider expanding my setup.
It might be best to run an Ethernet cable downstairs and connect a separate access point. Extenders often don't work as well as you'd hope, and in your case, that could really make a difference.
Thanks, I will definitely consider that!

I have it plugged in at my foyer, which might not be halfway. I’ll look for another spot closer to where I need it.
