How can I install a patch for an old game on Windows 10?

I'm having trouble with an old game called Vigilance, which I downloaded and installed on my Windows 10, 64-bit system. The game itself runs perfectly without needing any workarounds, but I'm struggling to install the only available patch. When I try to run the patch, I get a "This app can't run on your PC" message. I've already tried using compatibility mode and running it as an administrator, but nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this patch installed?

Just a heads up, issues with the patch can occur since it's from an old archive. If it’s not working on your system, it might be worth checking for a different version of the patch or seeing if other players have shared a compatible one. Sometimes, fan sites might have updated versions that could work better with Windows 10! Just make sure any files are safe before downloading.

Totally agree! I've had better luck with fan patches rather than official ones for some of these older games.

It sounds like you're dealing with a compatibility issue. Since the game is from 1998, it might not play nice with modern systems. You could try setting up a virtual machine with Windows XP or 98 using VirtualBox. This way, you can install the game and the patch there without interference from Windows 10, then copy the patched files back to your main system. It might sound complicated, but there are plenty of guides online to help you out!

I had to do the same for an old game! It seems tough at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's really useful for running older software. Good luck!
