I have a laptop running Windows that has no working USB ports. The only port that works is the SD card slot. Is it possible to install Linux from an SD card, or can I install it directly from the laptop's internal storage instead?

Honestly, if the laptop has so many issues, it might be time for an upgrade. No USB ports can really limit what you can do!
Installing from an SD card is a go if your system can boot from it. If not, you might try a more complex method by putting the root filesystem on the SD card and the bootloader on your internal hard drive, but that requires a bit of technical know-how.
If you can’t get the SD card option to work, consider taking the hard drive out of your laptop and connecting it to a desktop computer. You should be able to install Linux on it there and then put the drive back into your laptop.
Yes, you can definitely install Linux from an SD card if your laptop supports booting from it. Just make sure you check the BIOS settings to select the SD card as the boot device.
