I've got a Panasonic ToughBook CF-48 laptop with an Intel Pentium III and 128MB of RAM, which currently has Windows 2000 installed. I want to replace it with Windows ME to play some classic games and explore the older OS. Do I need a Windows ME CD for the installation, or is USB installation an option? If USB is possible, how can I go about setting that up? I've looked for tutorials but haven't found much. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like a fun project! If you're just looking to install Windows ME and aren't worried about updates, you'll definitely need a ME installation CD. As for using a USB drive, it's a bit tricky since Windows ME doesn't support USB natively. You might need to create a bootable floppy disk if your laptop has a floppy drive, or set up a USB with the necessary drivers. Unfortunately, I can't help with any specific download links for old software, but you'll need to make sure you have those drivers handy.
Regarding your question about booting from USB, you might have to adjust the boot order in the BIOS settings first. If you're running Windows 2000, you can access the BIOS during startup—usually by hitting F2 or DEL. Make sure USB is set as the first boot option. Just keep in mind that installing an older OS like ME can be cumbersome with modern methods since compatibility can be an issue.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check the BIOS settings and try to find those drivers. Hoping for a smooth installation!
