How can I let a friend upload files to my Google Drive without using their storage?

I want to allow my friend to upload some clips to my Google Drive since I have 250GB available, while my friend only has the standard 15GB. However, when he tried to upload, he hit his storage limit. How can I set this up so that the clips he uploads will be stored on my Drive and not take up his space?

You might be facing a common issue with shared drives. If your friend is uploading to his account, it will always use his storage. To make it work, he needs to have at least some access to your Drive. The best way is to share your Drive folder directly with him and give him editing permissions. That way, the uploads will go straight to your space! Just make sure you trust him with that access.

Yeah, sharing a folder is key. Just go to your Drive, right-click on the folder, and select 'Share'. Then, add his email and check the permissions!

It sounds like you're using Google Drive. If that's the case, your friend really needs access to upload directly to your Drive. Just sharing a link won't cut it. Make sure to give him 'Edit' access on the folder you want him to upload to. If done correctly, everything should save in your storage instead of his!

Totally agree! It's like a Dropbox or OneDrive feature, where you can manage permissions to prevent space issues.
