Hey everyone! My brother and I recently built his PC, and we initially set it up with a SATA SSD as the main storage. However, we've now upgraded to an NVMe M.2 SSD, and we want to transfer Windows from the SATA SSD to the NVMe. What steps do we need to take to make this switch? Any help would be appreciated!

To get Windows onto your new NVMe drive, you generally have two options. First, the simplest method is to do a fresh reinstall of Windows directly on the NVMe SSD. This way, you won't run into potential issues from trying to clone it. After the reinstall, don’t forget to format the old SATA SSD so you can use it for storage. Alternatively, you can try using an m.2 adapter along with cloning software, but keep in mind that cloning can be hit or miss. Fresh installs are usually the safest bet!
If you're looking for a guide for the fresh installation process, you can find plenty of tutorials online that walk you through the steps. Basically, you boot from a Windows installation USB, select the NVMe drive during setup, and follow the prompts. Just make sure to back up any important data on the old SSD first!
