I'm having trouble playing 60 fps 4K videos on my laptop. Despite trying various apps like VLC, the videos lag significantly. I need help finding suitable applications or adjusting settings to improve playback performance. My laptop's specs can be viewed here: [config link]. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you're using the Intel UHD 620 as your primary decoding engine since it has better video decoding capabilities than your dedicated Radeon R7 M460. You can set this within Windows settings. Check this out for more details: link to Intel support. Also, consider that certain codecs could be the issue—some, like AV1, won’t work on the UHD 620, which could be causing the lag.
While I can't promise perfect playback at 60 fps for 4K, I've found that MPV is a good lightweight player to try for videos that VLC struggles with, especially those using the AV1 codec. It’s pretty basic in design but tends to handle tricky formats better than VLC.
Sadly, I tried MPV as well and it lags just like VLC. I'm really looking for something that might work better!
It looks like your processor and graphics chip aren't powerful enough for 60 fps at 4K. Those specifications can make a huge difference in playback capability.
Thanks for the advice! Any chance you could recommend a specific app that plays 60 fps or 4K videos well?
